We're hiring a part-time Communications/Development Director
Bond Street Theatre’s mission is to promote peace and mutual understanding through the arts.
As the hub of Bond Street's programming, the New York office is the focal point for all communication and fundraising efforts. Here in New York, we target areas in the world where we can make a positive impact, design projects to address those issues, identify funding sources to support our projects, and bring them to fruition.
We are looking for a person with excellent communication skills (speaking and writing) and a talent for organizing, coordinating, and managing projects. The best candidate would have a non-profit management degree and serious interest or experience in managing projects on an international level.
What We Do
The company initiates theatre-based programs in areas of conflict and poverty around the world, using the power of the arts to encourage social progress, heal the wounds of war, give new opportunities to those in need, and explore solutions to local issues. The company has initiated arts programs in 40 countries worldwide affecting people of all ages and genders. Our current focus areas are Afghanistan, Myanmar, Haiti, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Our strategy: 1) We collaborate with local artists and organizations to enjoy the benefits of creative exchange and promote mutual understanding. 2) We make multi-year commitments in each area we work to build lasting relationships. 3) Our projects are physical, visual, and musical to facilitate communication across borders and fully engage audiences.

This is a pivotal moment: the company receives more requests for programs than our small staff can handle. We need an imaginative, energetic and dedicated person to join our leadership team and help guide the company during this growth process. This individual will lead the communications functions of the organization to raise our visibility, and work in collaboration with our fundraising team to maintain our fine relationships with funders and develop new associations and opportunities.

Communications
- Manage all external communications for the organization, including social media channels, newsletters, brochures, fundraising materials, press releases, etc.
- Maintain communication with donors and Board
- Manage communication with company members and interns
- Oversee maintenance of the company’s website and social media accounts
- Serve as press contact, including follow-up and pitching targeted contacts, and overseeing maintenance of press lists
- Evaluate results of communications strategy and explore ways to expand and improve these efforts.
Fundraising
- Help develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan
- Direct research activities to identify new funding opportunities, and make recommendations
- Assume a proactive role in locating, contacting and securing donors
- Maintain an effective system to manage new and current donors and grants
- Work in collaboration with grant writing team in drafting proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, budgets, and requisite reports
- Design and manage crowdfunding campaigns
- Design and implement fundraising activities and events in collaboration with staff and Board
- Develop new, creative ways to expand fundraising capacity of the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or college, preferably in arts administration, non-profit management, or similar
- A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in communications and fundraising
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent communication (writing and speaking) and relationship building skills
- Excellent attention to detail, especially regarding the external communication materials
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proficiency with design software preferred
- Proficiency and understanding of fundraising software and databases
- Experience working with individual and institutional funders
- A passion for the arts as a means to reach across cultural borders, and BST’s mission of peacebuilding through the arts
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
